Quietly designing world class buildings in their home city, Winnipeg-based architecture firm 5468796 recently won the Governor General’s Award for their 3-story condo building Bloc10. Tucked into an unassuming residential neighborhood, the building is a creative inspiration for the future of medium-density urban living. Eight of the 10 units touch a corner, while each unit is multi-storied, has a 6-foot cantilevered deck, and enjoys full northern and southern exposures. Meanwhile, the ‘white box’ layouts are left open to allow an array of customizable interior arrangements.

5468796’s Migrating Landscapes was selected by a national juried competition as Canada‚Äôs official entry at the 2012 Venice Biennale in Architecture. Read more about these upstart architects at No Mean City and see a showcase of their work at The Atlantic Cities. All images from 5468796.
